This beloved family vacation home in Martha's Vineyard was originally built as a modest 2-bedroom cabin in the woods. In order to accommodate a growing family, as well as growing demand for vacation rentals in the area, the owner commissioned a large-scale renovation which included a full overhaul on furniture and furnishings, an additional bedroom, added kitchen storage and updated appliances, a roof replacement and a 500 SF extension to house a three-seasons porch and additional rear deck area with a built-in hot tub. The expression of exposed Douglas fir framing and natural cedar trim allows this extension to sit comfortably and naturally in its tranquil wooded surroundings, while the custom metal enclosure system holds oversized screen panels that are easily swapped with solid glass for use in the cooler months.
